    I bought this at an UK auction. It was described as 'German M1918 helmet'. I think it is an A-H M1917 helmet. It seems to fit that description, except that the chinstrap is of leather and not fibre/hemp. And I wonder about the 3 cushions : they arhe sealed and not taped. There are no markings...

    Thanks for comments. As a new member, I'm amazed by the depth of knowledge displayed. Because of the comments, a full refund from auctioneers.

    My main interest is in the steel helmets of WW1. In particular, the various stahlhelms of the Central Powers. Can anyone suggest a website on stahlhelms as good as this one on pickelhaubes?

    Is this a genuine article? It looks OK to me but doubts have been expressed especially about the lining.
