WWI Prussian Guard Shako, chin scales

Hi Folks,
Could someone confirm that this chinstrap/scales is correct for this enlisted mans shako please, I would have expected to see just a leather chinstrap.

The EM in 1.Telegraph Battalion and the Flieger Battalions all took a flat brass chin scale. The Jaeger battalions took a leather chin strap.

Are Telegraph Battalions and the Flieger Battalions rarer.

That is incorrect. Period pre war photos show men of Telegraph Battalions and Flieger Battalions in the pre-war uniforms wearing leather chinstraps.
 
It was common for the EM to wear leather chin straps in the field, and if authorized, metal chin scales in garrison.
