Before and after of an 1853 officer with the visor on the outside. This visor was not fixed onto the helmet. It was held in by stud screws. I’m thinking this was because it was supposed to be actively adjusted by the owner. Any thoughts?
Here was my nickel plated 1843, the visor was never riveted onto the helmet. It was held in place by screws. I have carefully removed all the nickel plating except for one or two areas for posterity sake. It must’ve been plated later and possibly the felt lining in the rear and now degraded...
