Great helmet at a fair price.

Really nice Ron, this was one of the ones that got away. I bid on it in the last minute, but the bid did not go through. Nice helmet at a great price. I did not need another helmet to work on either and you’ve done such a great job on this.

Does anybody have any opinions about these bases? Original to the period or copies? No markings on either base. One has no lip edge, and the other does.

Hello, does anybody have any experience or expertise in restoring an eagle top that has some dents and pushed in parts? It would be interesting to hear if there is any process to restoring even partially.

Absolutely worth restoring. Looks like a basic complete helmet that was painted black and just could be stripped. I don’t know what happened when I tried to bid, but it did not seem to go through, my bad luck. I think this helmet was worth a few hundred dollars more than what it went for...

Great helmets, great price on both

Before and after of an 1853 officer with the visor on the outside. This visor was not fixed onto the helmet. It was held in by stud screws. I’m thinking this was because it was supposed to be actively adjusted by the owner. Any thoughts?
