Saxon Officer’s Helmet - Medical company

Hi all, got this helmet in person from AoK earlier this year but I don’t think I showed anyone.

It’s a lovely Saxon officer’s pickel with typical Saxon qualities such as the tall dome, non serrated cockades and the squared visors. The only thing that keeps it from being a “purebred” Saxon is that it lacks the tall oval shaped pearl rings.

Inside includes the handwritten inscription

Frenzel
Rse San Comp. 1.
XII. A.C.
(Thanks to Argonne for translation)

Herr Frenzel here was an officer in the reserve 1st medical (Sanitäter) company of the 23rd Division of the 12th army corps (1st Royal Saxon corps). Honestly the condition by itself didn’t convince me to open my wallet, rather it was the fact I rarely see this much detail inside pickels.

The condition of the shell is what I like to see. Leather in such good condition that one could mistake it for Vulcanfibre. It’s in absolutely perfect shape with no deformities and only a handful of crazing marks that you’d have to look for. Better yet, the brass furniture and Wappen retain 85% to 90% of the original gilt!

Hello!

In my opinion a wonderful piece of history.
There is nothing to worry about.
The helmet has a great look.

By the way, great photos in daylight.

Regards
Matthias
Oh no I didn’t have any worries about it. Thank you, and yes I’m happy with the outdoor shots as I believe natural light = best light. I actually had to rush to get these pics in under 5 minutes otherwise the heat would’ve messed with the lacquer

Very beautiful condition, congratulations! This one goes nicely with your Bavarian IR officer's helmet. Perhaps a Württemberg one for the next? ;)

A Württemberg would be lovely but I feel it is too similar to the Bavarian design since I’m going for diversity. Baden I think is where I’ll go next
