Pickelhaube eagle ID question

Hello,

It would have been nice to introduce yourself briefly first to our small community ;) .
That being said, we have here a Garde Wappen for Garde officers helmet. Unfortunately, both screws at the back to fix the Wappen on the helmet are missing / broken...
About the value, some other members will certainly give you an accurate answer.

Hello Philippe,

Thank You for the answer.

I'm sorry, I should have started by introducing myself in a separate thread, I did it few minutes ago :) .

I agree with Philippe. This eagle has lost its gilding, which is regrettable, especially for an officer's badge. This plaque has lost its fasteners. In France, it would cost around €150.

A perfect Wappen costs around 1000-1200 euros. This one is slightly damaged, but it's still worth around 500 euros to me. You could easily apply new gold plating and repair it.

Personally, I would clean it in order to determine exactly what is hidden under all of the oxidization. Something as dark as this would require a sonic cleaner which I have used in the past.

I agree. Look at the change in the wappen I got from James just from cleaning with vinegar and a bit of salt and then some dish soap.

These are not the prices seen in France. In very good condition, at auction, you don't reach €500 (including fees).

Thank You for Your comment Clovis 57, but I think You will not buy such eagle for 150e. It seems that regular ones are beetween 80 -150 e

80 to 150 euro? I doubt as I am certain that they get more than that even without the threads. The guard star is always sought after as some guard plates are missing these stars

In France, Guard officer's eagles are not often found, however, the Garde-Adler-mit Garde-Stern model 95 "Kammer" eagles are not rare. There were at least ten regiments that adopted this brass eagle. They sell for around €200 on online forums.
I can only speak about the French market.
