    Das Bunker Visit in Pictures

    Good Lord! I have never seen that many perfect condition Busbys in one place at the same time, and they are outside as supper decorations? On the kitchen table picture above that INCREDIBLE Guard Landwehr I see a little dachshund on the floor! No surprise :D Who is that?

    Rare helmet

    Two fools have made offers. Wonderful cast helmet plate. That must be worth at least $15 by itself! #-o

    Bavarian kokarden: civic, cadet, militia or ? - photos fixed

    You guys cannot be serious. The hollow split tube that spay out four differnet directions inside the helmet for M91 posts can be square, but they are meant to go through a drilled hole.. Kokarden are stamped. These are cast. These are decorative whatever for a door or a knob. That they are...

    KR2 Helmet---SOS 2014

    Very odd. That is an infantry 1870 reserve eagle. The tail feathers are straight on a Kurassier eagle.

    Pricey!

    That is a copy on ebay. Compare to Tony's and Adler's originals on this forum. Incredible. I'll never own an original :(

    Prussian helmet

    The eagle might lack sharp deatails as it looks to me, to be a M15 eagle plate that has been polished. If a magnet sticks to it, there is no doubt.

    My First Pickelhaube

    That is a 1914 pattern front plate. So it could also be infantry. Congratualtions. A very nice first helmet.

    KR2 Helmet---SOS 2014

    Yes that is very odd. Even for a reserve helmet I cannot understand why the eagle would be so different when it comes to the bandeau. Are the tail feathers straight as is correct for a Kurassier eagle? Is the bandeau stamped? Could we see some photos of the back of the eable and bandeau? The...

    Domed chin scales and flat chin scales

    The seller is probably saying 1897 as that is when the Reichs cockade was added to all helmets. But that was a directive, not a Model. Again I refer you to my favourite website http://www.kaisersbunker.com/hp/kokarden.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The model is an M1886.

    Domed chin scales and flat chin scales

    Kev if you read the information on Tony's site, http://www.kaisersbunker.com/pt/bayern.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you can see that you are correct, you have a M1886 officer. It has the M1886 helmet plate and flat chinscales which were changed in 1914 for all officers to...

    would be a nice poster...

    You have a wonderful collection Ed. Congratulations. I am also envious of the dragoon M15. You should take a photo of all your M15 helmets together!

    Domed chin scales and flat chin scales

    Hello Kev, Read the 1914 directive on Bavarian officer's helmet on this link. What happened in 1914 to officer pickelhaubes confuses a lot of collectors (and almost every dealer!) but here he has explained it perfectly. http://www.kaisersbunker.com/pt/bayern.htm"...

    Starting to collect, advice please

    Kev, Buy books, but some of the most accurate information on the web is available for free at kaisers bunker. He refuses to do a book although he has helped with many, as he wants the information to be there for anyone to use for free. His site has saved me thousands. He does not do email...

    Pckelhaube Grenadier - opinions

    Ron, Grenadier helmets changed Wappens starting in 1888. kaisers bunker lists the dates in the the link below. So the change to the new eagle explain different holes. For EM helmets, the makers tried to make new grenadier eagles to fit the old holes, but they did not always fit. Officers would...

    Another rare Ersatz helmet

    Did you gentlemen read that James is now selling it on ebay without the eagle? So one has to assume James has possibly reached the same conclusion as I have when I saw this, that it is not even an original pickelhaube and not worth keeping. Which is why the plate was saved and its on ebay.

    Uhlan uniform chevrons

    Tell that person who sent you the PM to do some research before offering an opinion on which they know nothing. A frustrating problem in all forums. It is a Fechterabzeichen (lance proficiency indicator chevron). They were added on as skill improved, so a mounted soldier could have one or many.

    Bavarian pickelhaube - any alarm bells ringing?

    Actually, only the EM Foot-Troops went to the simpler small helmet plate in 1886. Officers and all mounted troops kept the giant 1886 helmet plate until 1914. See kaisers bunker http://www.kaisersbunker.com/pt/bayern.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Who can ID these German and captured canons?

    Go here. He has images of the artillery pieces that fired each of the shell casings. Its a great read and you should find your guns. http://www.kaisersbunker.com/cc/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
