I only know the medals with a sign of the weapon they would serve. It's the first time I see a medal like this. Beautiful find (y)

Could also be a studio photo. Some photographers had uniform parts like cuirasses in their costume fundus, so that the soldiers hadn’t to carry those heavy parts to the studio. It wasn’t uncommon.
