Can anyone verify the authenticity of this Pickelhaube from the Bavarian Field Artillery?

I wouldn't buy this helmet. It is too expensive for this condition and not the right helmet. In addition, the patina of the replacement material isn’t nice. Your GGF wasn‘t an officer but an NCO. You would need an M1886 NCO helmet of the field artillery (with curved chinscales). The following...

Yellow helmet fittings - Baden LGR 109 from 1867 to 1870/71 or 1885?

I have now read in the book “Die Deutsche Infanterie” that the change of the fitting color had to do with the integration into the Prussian army and the yellow fittings were worn until an AKO from 11. June 1885. Then the LGR109 was allowed to wear the star of the Baden House Order and the color...

Yellow helmet fittings - Baden LGR 109 from 1867 to 1870/71 or 1885?

Thank you Thierry. But I didn't just mean old photos, but also photos from collectors or museums of (stamped?) helmets with yellow fittings.

Yellow helmet fittings - Baden LGR 109 from 1867 to 1870/71 or 1885?

Dear collector friends, I have just read in the “Mitteilung zur Geschichte der Militärischen Tracht” that the helmet of the LGR 109 had yellow fittings in the period from 1867 to 1885. However, in Knötel's “Uniformenkunde” it is written that this was the case in the period from 1867 to 1870/71...

Help Needed: Identifying My M95 Pickelhaube – Is It Genuine picklehaube or a Child's picklehaube?

Hello and welcome to the forum. I agree with Lars, it’s a shell of an M1895 with correct dimensions. According to the regulations it should be 21.5cm high.

Any help from the wise ones

Thierry, I think the rosettes are both ok. If you look very closely, you can see the engraved wreath, which is beautifully preserved on the side with the Imperial cockade, also on the rosette of the Mecklenburg cockade.

    Missing spike?

I wouldn’t clean it if you want to sell it, because most collectors want authenticity. However, the metal parts of this officer helmet were fire gilded . You can clean the metal parts as follows: Mix fine chalk and alcohol to a pulp. Clean the metal parts very gently and not too tightly with a...

    Missing spike?

There are a few more parts missing. Spike, visor trimm, rear spine, chinscales and cockades. Especially the chinscales are hard to find, because they have to match the size of the helmet. But the helmet is far from being worthless in this condition. Look on ebay under the search term...

    prussian artillerie pick

I haven’t seen such a Prussian cockade too. As Bob wrote, the rest looks ok, but keep in mind that one pin is missing at the visor trimm (lh).

    U-BOAT GUN SIGHT

I think it‘s from a canon from a ww1 submarine or Torpedoboat. „Ubts u. Tpbts“ stands for „Uboots- und Torpedoboots“ and just means that it was installed on both. But behind it there stand a „K. L/45“ which stands for „Kanone or Kaliber L/45“ (canon or caliber L/45). The „Bordgeschütz: 8,8 cm...
