    Imperial German railroads

Bruno: I can't recall exactly. It was eleven years ago., but I think I still have photos I took prior to selling most of the helmets. I'll have a look around to see if I can find them

    Imperial German railroads

Attaching a photo of the collection prior to the 2014 "downsizing". I forgot that I also had a Garde Eiisenbahn helmet with the Landwehr Eagle. Double Butt Kicking now !!

    Imperial German railroads

A beautiful helmet! Makes me kick myself for including mine in the "downsizing" back in 2014. I found it in Oshawa Ontario back around 1980 along with a photo of the owner playing cards in uniform. Duh!

    Paper/Cardboard ersatz pickelhauben

Andy: Thanks for this. I have a Depehag officers helmet but I've never encountered one of these "cardboard" helmets. It's an interesting topic.

EM helmet M1895 of the Infantry Regiment (1st Hanoverian) No. 74

Sandy: Nice looking helmet and lots of detail regarding its construction. I'll have to pull mine off the shelf and have another detailed look at it. Thanks for sharing it.

    Hussaren Busby Question

Using my wife’s iPad which explains the previous truncated message. I’m in Italy at the moment. Meant to say nice to see that you “pulled the trigger” on that opportunity. It looks like a nice piece.

How To Paint Grey Metal Parts Quick, Easy and Realistic

That's quite a transformation and certainly better than leaving them "as found" in rusted condition in my view.

My first restoration project, a prussian M1895 Kugelhelm

Nice job of bringing this piece back to life.

    Saxon anyone? LGR100

Philippe: A very fine example of the Saxon Leib Grenadier O.R.'s helmet.

    glengarry

The construction of the Glengarry appears correct. I've owned a few of these over the years when I was collecting C.E.F. I can't render an opinion on the British cap badge.

    109th Baden Leib Grenadiers

Steve: Well to start I think I'd concentrate on collecting the units that had distinctive Wappens, but yes ultimately the Prussian Grenadier regiments as well. It's pretty unlikely I'll get to that point before they cart me off to "the home" Steve ;)

    109th Baden Leib Grenadiers

Michael: Yes more photos later, but, I was lucky to find the time to put together that little photo shoot. We are heading to Italy on Monday for a cruise of the Adriatic and it's Spring on the lake. Way too many things on the go at the moment, from boats and lifts, docks and marine railways...

    109th Baden Leib Grenadiers

Thanks for the positive comments folks. I'm thinking that with this acquisition I'm going to focus more on collecting the helmets of the Grenadier regiments.

    109th Baden Leib Grenadiers

Many thanks to Tony Schnurr for making one of my "Pickelhaube Bucket List" acquisitions come true. Some of you may know that I've been wanting one of these helmets for years. Now, I could have bought one long ago via a dealer, but this is a hobby, and one of the "rules" that I play by is, I...

    Hussaren Busby Question

Michael: You sound like a kindred spirit. There's nothing quite like having a cigar and a single malt while sitting in the gazebo at the lake shore watching the sun set on the lake.

    Hussaren Busby Question

It looks OK to me as well from a construction, parts level, but I have little interest in Peltzmutzen so I don't follow the market price wise. As for theatre stamps I'd have no issue with that. If you're the Props Dept. guy and you needed a busby for a play circa 1920's, 30"s I'm sure you...
