Attaching a photo of the collection prior to the 2014 "downsizing". I forgot that I also had a Garde Eiisenbahn helmet with the Landwehr Eagle. Double Butt Kicking now !!

A beautiful helmet! Makes me kick myself for including mine in the "downsizing" back in 2014. I found it in Oshawa Ontario back around 1980 along with a photo of the owner playing cards in uniform. Duh!

Andy: Thanks for this. I have a Depehag officers helmet but I've never encountered one of these "cardboard" helmets. It's an interesting topic.

That's quite a transformation and certainly better than leaving them "as found" in rusted condition in my view.

The construction of the Glengarry appears correct. I've owned a few of these over the years when I was collecting C.E.F. I can't render an opinion on the British cap badge.

Steve: Well to start I think I'd concentrate on collecting the units that had distinctive Wappens, but yes ultimately the Prussian Grenadier regiments as well. It's pretty unlikely I'll get to that point before they cart me off to "the home" Steve ;)

Michael: Yes more photos later, but, I was lucky to find the time to put together that little photo shoot. We are heading to Italy on Monday for a cruise of the Adriatic and it's Spring on the lake. Way too many things on the go at the moment, from boats and lifts, docks and marine railways...

Thanks for the positive comments folks. I'm thinking that with this acquisition I'm going to focus more on collecting the helmets of the Grenadier regiments.

For age 22 you're off to a very good start. You'll also have the advantage of learning a lot of information from people who've gained experience in many instances. by making mistakes and learning the hard way.
