Kürassier for review- thoughts on this one

Kammerstüke Metalhelm made after 1889 were to have no rear ridge. But for Private Purchase it was allowed. The curious part of this helmet, is the 1915 date, and the chinscales are brass. Not Tombak. Early Garde Metalhelme used the gilt chinscales from their tall leather helmets. Certainly...

Kürassier for review- thoughts on this one

See how a repainted interior and replica liner throws the entire helmet into question. I agree with Michiel. Good example. Creepiest lighting I’ve ever seen for photos.

    Yes I love ersatz pichelhaube.

The helmet is wonderful, but well done on your photography! Excellent! That’s as good as it gets for a helmet photo. That’s the quality of helmet photos I have been trying to maintain. You have arrived as well!

Help with Prussian 1860s Kürassier / Cuirassier Helmet please

Cool! I’ve never seen Bandeau bolts like that before. To the very fortunate Metalhelm buyer in NZ, resist the urge to pick up any Metalhelm by the spike. It’s just a tiny bead of very old solder keeping that together.

Bored on a Sunday night and thought I would share...

Nooo… I’m afraid you owe your son a refund. There are many negatives, but a quick check is Bandeau pebbling. For any Wappen. On originals you can count them they are so perfect. Or on this one, lack of pebbling. Muted. Unfortunately a sure sign of a replica. A beautiful Reserve of Landwehr...

Prussian 1860s Kürassier / Cuirassier Helmet

Very nice. That is the 1853 pattern which placed the front visor on the inside. The 1842 Adler is one of the earliest patterns, being cast from brass into a flat mould, then cleaned up and shaped to the helmet. Later modified in 1860 for the addition of the FATHERLAND Bandeau.

Quick question about Einjährig-Freiwilliger (One year volunteer) boards

The image above is of Baden, who were not allowed to wear their colours after the Baden Revolution of 1848/1849. The revolution was put down by Preussen and from that point Baden Troops had to wear Preussen colours of black white. All they got was their Wappen and Kokarden.

    Cuirassier helmet Identification

It appears to show the the crimp of the visor and screw post for chinscales. Smooth spike…I vote yes. M62/67. 20+ years of production until 1889.

K R collection Helmets and uniforms

Mmm…. . There were multiple Clothing Regulations, with left and rights arcs that soldiers of all ranks had to adhere to. Sandy has done a marvellous service by translating many. Uhlan chapska with FWR Wappen??

You could look on Kaiser's Bunker for quick answers. My essay on Imperial German Uniforms lists all Regiments and Battalions, name, garrison, uniform, cuffs, collar, helmet. It's a reference site to help people to learn. All typed with two fingers. Screen shot below. There you see UR Nr.1, UR...

Helmet Saxon General of the General Staff

Astounding. As is typical. So Steve, is that what a Preussen General Staff helmet looks like? Like a Garde Dragoner but with silver chinscales and fluted spike? I have to be lazy and ask, as I am pinned down by three dogs right now and my Lainé is out of reach. Would love too see more of that...
