Really? Brass and Tombak Braunschweig Totenkopf are not uncommon. Come some reason (?) these seem to be the ones that lose the silver wash the most.

Welcome to here and you have made a very good purchase by the looks of it. Once common, M16-18 are difficult to find now. Like diplomas around here….Way to go!

If/when you get that Adler off to look at the back, I predict you will find some trails of silver wash that leaked onto the back at openugs, often the edges as it’s done after stamping. Would be interesting to see if possible.

Francis hearty congratulations for a beautiful KR6 Metalhelm. Regardless of what alloy you’re Adler is made of, you are still looking at a very scarce Metalhelm. Way to go! 🍺

Good Gods that is outstanding. No way could most of us mere mortals collect these as they are painfully rare, and incredibly expensive. I have watched Plate Armour for years in European auctions, and that is the most interesting and unique close Helm I have ever seen in a private collection...

That’s one of the best aspects of this Forum, when someone is prevented from buying a misrepresented helmet. I suggest you do some reading up on original characteristics.

Then why does everybody get so excited when there’s a double set of holes for the Wappen? This is the norm for most old helmets, especially Metalhelme.
