    Leib-Kürassier-Regiment Nr.1 OR. "Flying Eagle"

Thank you much for those superb detailed photos. Wonderful! I’ve never seen the reverse of this Adler before.

A Bay. Leib Infantry Regiment Pickelhaube

It appears that the front has a black cloth underside, as there is visible texture, yes? Leather undersides on Officer Helme of low quality is not uncommon.

    Württemberg UR20

Elegant. Perfect word to describe that photo. Absolutely beautiful old pattern Schirmmütze.

Just got this piece this morning! M1910 officer visor for the Braunschweig 92nd infantry!

Really? Brass and Tombak Braunschweig Totenkopf are not uncommon. Come some reason (?) these seem to be the ones that lose the silver wash the most.

    Graduation gift to myself!

Welcome to here and you have made a very good purchase by the looks of it. Once common, M16-18 are difficult to find now. Like diplomas around here….Way to go!

    Working in progress

Wow! Yes! This will be a fantastic display.

    KR 6 Mannsch

If/when you get that Adler off to look at the back, I predict you will find some trails of silver wash that leaked onto the back at openugs, often the edges as it’s done after stamping. Would be interesting to see if possible.

    KR 6 Mannsch

Francis hearty congratulations for a beautiful KR6 Metalhelm. Regardless of what alloy you’re Adler is made of, you are still looking at a very scarce Metalhelm. Way to go! 🍺

    Maximilian closed helmet

Good Gods that is outstanding. No way could most of us mere mortals collect these as they are painfully rare, and incredibly expensive. I have watched Plate Armour for years in European auctions, and that is the most interesting and unique close Helm I have ever seen in a private collection...

A nice m1842 from AOK militaira

Too bad? Congratulations to the new owner!

    Help with Tschapka

That’s one of the best aspects of this Forum, when someone is prevented from buying a misrepresented helmet. I suggest you do some reading up on original characteristics.

    Re-Issued Time and Again

Then why does everybody get so excited when there’s a double set of holes for the Wappen? This is the norm for most old helmets, especially Metalhelme.

    Trying to save Kaiser’s Bunker

    Garde Reiter

Here are the photos as an eBay link will go dead at some point. At best it seems to be a parts helmet, which certainly has value as the parts overall are original. Would be a decent filler Garde Reiter Parts Metalhelm for someone that doesn’t want to spend €10K. I have empathy for the seller...

    Bavarian Infantry Officer

That is a very wise approach. A small collection of top condition is far more appealing than a large collection of mediocre. Nice helmet and congratulations on obtaining it.

    CREATION OF A NEW SHOWCASE

That is fantastic Daniel, it looks like a museum cabinet. Which is ironically better than most museums I’ve seen. Nicely done. Does anyone remember my “How to make them fly” posting from 2020? Not as elegant as Daniel’s with the magnets, but it did allow my Stahlhelme to float. Easy to...

21st Uhlans with Saxon Cavalry Sabers

Very nice hard to find Degan Bob. EXCELLENT photo and here is why: The Sachsen Ulanen had a peculiar habit after 1910 of wearing numbered straps on the Dunkelblau Ulanka in lieu of epaulettes for the three Sachsen Ulanen Regts. Photographs of this pattern show that only numbers were worn, never...

    Trying to save Kaiser’s Bunker

Ta-Ta! Success! Up till 05:00 a few nights here trying to find a fix, so it was fantastic to see reports coming in from around the world that it now loads. We are back. Thanks everyone for the encouragement and updates. I am privileged to be a part of this wonderful collecting community...

    Trying to save Kaiser’s Bunker

Thank you for everyone who has emailed to tell me that Kaiser’s Bunker is off the net. All of the HTML I wrote myself using two fingers 25 years ago, and now that old HTML is coming back to haunt me. I’m trying to save it, and there could be a fix from my server, but unfortunately it will be...
