Where feldmütze were manufactured before 1914?

Hi Milosz, Very interesting. I posted a blue Feldmütze here some time ago https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/threads/feldmuetze-i-r-172-blau.16557/#post-115162, dated 1914, and that was also made in a Strafanstalt, in my case “Strafanstalt und Gefängniss Cassel-Wehlheiden”. I certainly believe...

Help Needed: Identifying My M95 Pickelhaube – Is It Genuine picklehaube or a Child's picklehaube?

I have a helmet which was ordered directly for L.I.R. 53 (so no hand-me-down from an active regiment), but has a normal eagle without a cross. The Germans don't seem to have been that strict when it came to the Landwehr cross on the Wappen for Reserve and Landwehr troops.

    Help Identifying 1910ish Pomeranian Uniform

Welcome to the forum, Imo the picture shows him as a young man doing his military service before the first world war, and not as a Meldereiter during the war. His year of birth could confirm that. Regards, Lars

    Help with flea market find

Hi Marlo, Welcome to the forum! Imo a model 1895 for enlisted men, with the Wappen for a Grenadier Regiment. The parts look original, but the chinstrap should be black on the outside, so probably replaced at some point in time with an early war version. The inside doesn't seem to be tampered...

Help Needed: Identifying My M95 Pickelhaube – Is It Genuine picklehaube or a Child's picklehaube?

Hi Losse, Welcome to the forum. I don't think children's helmets would be regimentally marked :) , people were smaller then, with smaller heads. Some shrinkage has probably taken place as well, as you can see at the rear spine. The helmet looks original to me, model 1895, with a nice regimental...

helmet WW1 model 16; me doubts

This Ebay helmet would certainly fool me, I won't comment on the camouflage or the liner, but I don't see red flags with the underlying shell. The warhats Stahlhelm looks very different, with the very long "duckbeak" visor, that one I can recognise :) .

Hi Alex, That's an impressive collection for only 2 years :) Thank you for sharing. Regards, Lars

    My Ersatz collection

Very nice helmet, congratulations :) There has been a period where collectors used a lot of "care" products on their leather collectables, softening the leather short-term, but hardening and warping it long-term. At least your chinstrap looks very natural and not warped. Regards, Lars

    Purchasing my first Pickelhaube

Welcome to the forum, I agree with Sandy's assessment. Strangely enough, the value of a standard Pickelhaube like this one comes mainly from the Wappen (around 80 euro these days), Kokarden (easily 130 euro for a Prussian pair), and the chinstrap (around 250 euro). The actual shell with spike...

    Baden Kugelhelm

The low quality of the Kokarden and the chinstrap is another giveaway. Officer helmets were high quality items, and I don’t see that here.

    Baden Kugelhelm

Hi, Doesn’t look good to me, the letters on the Wappen seem to have different sizes and are not properly lined up. Not a good idea to buy a Pickelhaube without seeing the inside. The name of the seller suggests some connection with India, a known source of reproduction Pickelhaubes. Regards, Lars

Poor picture taking is a waste of everybody's time...(NOT SATIRE)

I often wonder about that, sellers must realise that better pictures normally mean higher prices. 10 years ago, this is the picture the seller posted and I took a chance for 40 euros: And this is what I got, the seller could have sold for a lot more: And something similar in 2023, this is...

    Interesting Bayonet and Frog

The Bekleidungs Instandsetzungs Amt VII (of the 7. Armee-Korps) also repaired equipment, I have seen BJA marks on backpacks, and I have a belt that was repaired by BJA VII, and marked accordingly. On your frog the holes for the middle rivest are still visible, so for me the back of the frog...
