    Hełmy kurassier. Oryginalne?

Pawel, I see no one has reached out to you regarding value of these helmets, and I'll mention that it's difficult to provide an estimate of value, being that the market is so specialized. From what I've seen, these helmets are pretty much worth what someone will give you for them; in other...

    My helmets.

Amy, what is a Japanese cherry blossom helmet? I have a couple original Japanese helmets; one found in a cave in the northern Marianas, along with bayonets and Type 99 rifles. I also have what appears to be a Japanese home guard helmet, though it is stripped down, and has what appears to be...

    My helmets.

I wouldn't be too quick to write these helmets off as replicas. I have recently purchased a couple of reference books, and have learned quite a bit from reading them, even though the information on these metalhelme is sparse. Apparently these types of helmets were available for purchase from...

    Kurassier Helmet

If this is an officer's helmet, the M91 side posts are incorrect, though they appear to be applied after-market. The close-up of the post shows the retaining brad extended so as to fit the existing hole. If it is an original EM helmet, it has been chromed. I actually recently purchased a...

Jäger zu Pferd helmets for officers

As a point of clarification here, I do not believe any of my helmets are officer helmets, based on the trim, liner, and fittings they have. I understand that over time, these can all be replaced, but they look more like the enlisted helmets than the officer quality.

Jäger zu Pferd helmets for officers

All, I appreciate this conversation, as I have procured both JzP and Kurassier metalhelms that had different colors of spray paint and painted fittings; one Kurassier helmet had been painted silver with the spike and wappen were painted a dull gold-ish, brown color. I had found another...

Jäger zu Pferd helmets for officers

Is it possible that the polished steel helmets may refer to the subdued (blackened) portion being polished as opposed to dull or matte in nature? I only ask because I notice a significant difference in my JzP helmets when I first get them and after I have cleaned them up, knocked off the dust...

    Metalhelm and other headgear manufacturers

Here's a website many of you contributed to, I'm sure. It has pictures of the various markings. https://german1914.com/maker-markings-list/

Brian, where might I find this list of regimental helmet markings?

    PzP

Yeah, I don't know. What I see is some standardization, but a lot of alternative utilization. A modern U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major would stroke out of have a heart attack...

    PzP

This is an interesting helmet. Appears to have fresh paint on the underside, but what is especially interesting is the D.R. 13 markings. The first thing that comes to mind is Dragonner Regiment 13. I realize this is not a standard Dragoon helmet, but I also know the Germans suffered materiel...

    1913 7th JzP with markings

Amy, I'm excited, as this is the first prewar JzP helmet I've gotten, and it appears to be complete and original. I've got to straighten that front visor out, and see if I need to straighten out the back visor a little, but otherwise I'll knock off the dust and rust, put some polish on it, and...

    1913 7th JzP with markings

Lars, I believe the marking is C.E. Juncker. I'll verify and take a photo tonight. The Eskadron would be the squadron, and Trupp would be the troop. I'm wondering if that I is not a 1, but the letter I, as troops or companies are usually designated by letters rather than numbers. Echelons at...

    1913 7th JzP with markings

I just received this helmet yesterday. I know... I have a helmet problem... This prewar example is nicely unit marked on the rim. I could use some help with the 2.1... I know Jaeger zu Pferd translates to "Hunter on Horse", and the JzP regiments were light cavalry, used as messengers early...

    Prussian M15 shako for sale

They really had some small heads back then. This is not the case with some of my other pickelhauben, including my JzP and Kurassier metalhelme. The M16 and M18 Stahlhelms I own are also much larger than some of the pickelhauben and the Shako. Also, I like your display!

    Prussian M15 shako for sale

Received and very cool! It's much smaller than I anticipated, but it's a great addition to the collection!

Nice M15 Baden well marked for sale

This is a very interesting thread, as I have seen all kinds of liners in the half dozen or so pickelhauben I've restored. Restored may not be the right term, as I normally just knock off rust, remove paint and/or paint splatter, put protective wax/polish on them, and call it a day.
