    Off JR 115

Dear collectors, As prices are going over the top last few years, I have lost connection with reality. What should be a fair price for an officer's helmet IR 115 in good shape (2+). Thanks, Ad

Regiments and militairy history of Konrad Kalau vom Hofe

Dear Glenn and Joe, I just checked the book: Altpreussische Geschlechterkunde Familienarchiv 1965-68, band 2 (pp 1 till 333) and found little more about the school period of Konrad vom Hofe. He was born 22.7.1880. According to the book, he went to the gymnasium at Schweidnitz, in 1896 (He was...

Regiments and militairy history of Konrad Kalau vom Hofe

Dear Glenn and Joe, Thanks again for your helpful discussion and research in German archives. How to become an officer is still a complex case, but because of the research Glenn did, many possibilities can be excluded. Thanks for the copy of the text too. This weekend I was in Lille (France)...

Tschapka 13th reg officer rosetten colour?

Dear gentlemen, Thanks for sharing thoughts about the officer's Ulanen tschapka reg. 13. The rosetten are definitly silver, and no zinc. Possibly the wrong rosetten have been added last 90 years and they should be replaced with gilt one's. The general condition is good (2 to 2+). It is a...

Tschapka 13th reg officer rosetten colour?

Dear 911car, Thanks for your email. Unfortunaly, I don't have the tschapka available yet, to make pictures. I can describe the case: In literature, tschapka's of the 13 th regiment ulanen have gilt curved chinstraps and agilt curved rosetten. The eagle is silver, so is the visor edge. The...

Tschapka 13th reg officer rosetten colour?

I recently came across an original officer's tschapka of the 13th regiment (Koningsulanen). All parts are in original condition, but it's rosettes, which connect the schupenketten to the tschapka are silver instead of gilt. So far I only come across gilt rosetten in literature. Are there any...

    938 0r 800 silver marks

In German awards, somtimes a 938 silver makk can be seen, sometimes a 800 mark is seen. Many EKI class and eg Flieger Fuhrer Abzeichen are 800 marked. Most silver and gilded Pour Le merites aren 938 marked. Is there a suitable explanation for this? Thanks, Ad

    €12,500 for a haube!

This IR 92, officer's pickelhaube might be slightly over priced. When you have a look at the skull, symetry is lacking in my opinion. Weitze is offering an EM's busby leib-hussar for a huge price too. In my opinion it's over the top. At the last Kube auction, the 92IR officer's pickelhaube...

Oldenburg NCO helmet visor colour black?

Hi Joe, You are probably right. It is a strange thing if the back side has it's usual red colour and the front side is black. Thanks. Ad

Oldenburg NCO helmet visor colour black?

Recently I came across an Oldenburg NCO Pickelhaube. This helmet is in near mint condition and has a woolen liner. Production date 1914-1915 I guess. The odd thing is that the inner side of the front visor has a black coulour, instead of the usual green one's I have seen so far. The backside has...

    94th reg. kokarde

Good afternoon Joe, Hard to tell what kind of man this is, but it is an interesting picture anayway and definitly from Weimar. Thanks for sharing! The kockade ring at this picture seems to be bright, so this was obviously a green, gold/yellow, black cokcade. In fact the same confusion appears...

    94th reg. kokarde

Thanks guys, But I am still confused. As I watch the dealers Weitze, Derrittmeister and Kube, I see lots of yelow, green and black kokarde dating from around 1910. I can imagine it drives one crazy. Hereby an additional question: If we have a green, yellow, black officer: How was the ring turned...

    94th reg. kokarde

Dear Forum members, At the Stubbs book, I see the kokardes of the 94th reg.: Sachsen Weimar etc. 5th Thuringes, being defined as: Green, gold, black. In the Laine book, I see these being defined as: Gold, green, black. All sources I have seen so far do indicate that both possibilities can be...

Regiments and militairy history of Konrad Kalau vom Hofe

Joe and Glenn, The bookAltpreussische Geschlechterkunde Familienarchiv does indicate that Konrad Kalau vom Hofe was a Fahnenjunker in 1900 too. This might be a little step foreward that shows you both are searching into the right direction. regards, Ad

Regiments and militairy history of Konrad Kalau vom Hofe

Dear Gentlemen, Thanks for your replies and clear answers. I realise Kalau vom Hofe was a Pour le Merite winner. To explain little more about my journey through history, I will write a few words to get things clear: As I am a Dutch civil engineer, I like to see facts to be sure, but I like...

Regiments and militairy history of Konrad Kalau vom Hofe

Dear forum members, At this moment I am doing some research for Hauptmann Konrad Kalau vom Hofe. Possibly you can help me any further: Konrad Kalau vom Hofe was born at July 22nd 1880 in Carlsruhe, Kreis Oppeln, Schlesien (Silesia: Now Poland). His family were landowners. The Kalau vom Hofe...

    lions crown Bavarian general's helmet

Dear collectors, Next to the discussion about the form of Bavarian general's spikes, I had a close look at the helmet plate of these helmets. Some pieces (eg in the Laine book) have the crowns at both lions with an open structure, like Preussian officer's crowns. Ik the Stubbs book and other...

    Fluted spike comparison

Dear forum members. It is a pleasure to join you at the forum, being the Dutch collector from Holland, who asked Joe this question. I asked German militaria dealer: Mr. Weitze (weitze.net) the question about the spike. In my opinion Helmut Weitze is highly respectable because of his knowledge...
