No offense Jaxon but there are more than a few knowledgeable first world war German helmet collectors here from all over the world who have tried to offer you honest opinions based on many years of experience in an effort to help.

I just checked WA since I'm also a member there and I didn't have the heart to comment. Apparently, he is not interested in honest opinions which is sad, and I quote "Im Afraid all of you saying that it's bad, have bad eyesight.... goodbye" No one ever likes to be the bearer of bad news but...

I think the helmet is and original helmet that was painted after the war. It could have been done anytime from 1918 till last year, they have been painting camo helmets since the War. Even way back in France for soldiers to bring or send home and a whole cottage industry developed around them...

Just curious what documentation you may have showing the history of this helmet and the soldier who brought it back. Showing the history and direct line of ownership for a documented helmet is very hard to do. I've seen very few photos of veterans holding a helmet they brought back. It's...

No problem, I'm sure you can understand why we responded the way did. The timing of the removal of the photos with no reason given it seemed you weren't happy with the opinions being offered.

I do this with every single wool item that comes into the house including tunics. I've had luck with this formula for decades which was given to me by and older collector long since passed. One week in the freezer one week out and then one week back in. The idea at least the way it was told...

I truly wish you good luck and look forward to watching the helmets coming back from the grave. (y) I always see these helmets come up for sale and hope someone will buy them and bring them back to life otherwise sadly they have reached the end of the road. :cry:

I like the way Steve goes into Auctions I have a very similar approach. Just think of the price you would like to pay including fees and shipping bid that amount and walk away. I will admit that I prefer getting blown out of the water rather than getting out bid by 1 or 2 dollar. :cry:
