Arrived today. No tax! -this Gräfe Brochure Completes the two "Die Deutschen Helme" volumes. -the other one: a bundle on "Uniformenkunde". A4+ plates by Paul Pietsch.

Excellent book Sandy! - My copy is from the Jean-Louis Larcade Collection. Auction was in Nevers, in France, in January 2023.

I know they collected door and window brass handles and church bells in occupied Belgium. Brass brewIng kettles. In Germany collecting lids of their Steins...etc...

The cypher "A"; Kaiserin Alexandra von Russland: 16 May 1896, abolished in 1917.

The picture shows the Magdeburg Zeughaus Museum in 1927. -the area was destroyed during WW II. (Wikipedia). Magdeburg was heavily Bombed by British & American Air Forces during WW2. The RAF Bombing Raid on the Night of 16th January 1945 destroyed 60% of the City. Certain areas 90%.

Just checked and compared the photographs of this 1971 "box" with the Kube 2009 Auktions Katalog on the Didier LAINÉ Collection. -there are several of these pre 1971 items offered in the Kube Katalog.

Arrived! From South of France. -a bit of black paper needed for repair of the enveloppe. All 23 plates present. Very nice. 1971. -Completes the Didier LAINÉ book collection. The cover photograph will need uv protection. I will scan the lot. And box it.

A nice set! On the material: -I think the French nailed it: "Carton bouilli"...Described as: pressed into shape [in one piece] in boiling water; dried. [Not to be confused with "papier maché".] Covered with felt or waterproof canvas or -shell lacked. ...."Boiled cardboard... -Jean-Louis...
