In the 1914 Rangliste in the section listing Reserve Officers, can anyone tell me the significance of the city in parentheses after the name of the Reserve Officers. The Reserve Officer section starts on page 627. Thanks for any help you can provide. Jim

This is a reserve officer's helmet in an Infantry Regt. (Cross on shield = Reservist, Flat Chin Scales = Infantry, and the pierced crown and Pearl Ring around the throat of the spike = Officer) This is a beautiful helmet. You did well when you got it. Congratulations! Jim

Does anyone know the connection between the 17th Hussars whose busbies bear the name Mars la Tour on their busby banners and the three cavalry regiments that participated in the battle? Jim

The "La Belle Alliance" banner was worn on the helmet plates of both IR 87 and IR 88 Jim

Both Medellin and Mesade Ibor were French victories in the Peninsula Campaign and they are both on the helmet plate for IR 88. What about Mars la Tour on HR 17's banner from the 1870 war, or many of the other honor banners from a wide spectrum of combat and victory? I think the statement that...

The cloth covered body, silver eagle, flat brass chin scales and silver rosette define it as belonging to Nr. 3 or Nr 5 Luftschiffer Battalion, or Telegraph Battalion 2 through 8i. Nice looking Tschako.

It was common for the EM to wear leather chin straps in the field, and if authorized, metal chin scales in garrison. Jim

The EM in 1.Telegraph Battalion and the Flieger Battalions all took a flat brass chin scale. The Jaeger battalions took a leather chin strap.
