A RARE ONE Furstentum Waldeck Prymont

Ref Page 83 of the 1914 Rangeliste under the heading of Adjutanten der Deutschen Fürsten, Oberstlt. Frhr. v. Graß is the Fllugel Adjutant to the Fürst zu Waldeck und Pyrmont, so the use of Fuerst on the helmet plate would be appropriate. Ref Page 43 of Uniformenkunde Das Deutsche heer by W...

    Starting to collect, advice please

Hello Kev, welcome to the forum. The advice regarding reference materials is spot on. I sadly speak from experience when I first started collecting in the mid 60's. Since then I've done a lot of research and have accumulated a lot of material on helmets. Please visit my web site...

That is a stunning collection! Can you provide close up photos of the other three? I have only read about two of these (# 2 & #4) but haven't seen them up close. That was a terrific Christmas present for all of us. Thank you. Jim Turinetti

    SOS Floorplans

I'll be at K 27. I have a new book out on the Kaiser's Hussars in WWI. It includes combat histories for all 21 Active and 10 Reserve Regiments that were mobilized in 1914 for the beginning of the war.

    Isn't this the wrong plate?

I bought this helmet from Weitze while I visited his shop in Homburg in Dec 2007. Helmut told me that he had gotten the helmet from a family (the owner's family???) and that to the best of his knowledge it was authentic. There were only four officers who wore this style helmet, and for less...

    OFFIZIER M15 FOOT ARTILLERY VETERAN

You are correct with your information about the line Fuss Art Regts that wore a busch for parade, only FusAR 3 took a black bush. The one Guard Regiment and the Fuss Art Shooting School in Jöteburg wore white bushes for parade. There were 23 FusArt Regts: 3 Bavarian, two Saxon, 1 Baden and 18...

    Hessen pickelhaube fake or not?

My compliments on a beautiful helmet. I have a couple of comments to add to the discussion. Given the high crown on the helmet, I think it dates to the 1880s. Given the removable spike, I think it can be attributed to IR 117, because it is the only Hesse regiment that wore a horse hair bush...

    Pickelhaube Kürassierhelm-Melderreiter Württemberg

Hi guys, I'd just like to point out that my Ebay name is Spikedhelmet. I don't want you to ever confuse me with the "Spikehelmet" that we're talking about in this entry. I am not in India, (I live in Ohio); and when I have sold any items, they have been, and always will be genuine. Have a...

    Larcade

I just received my copies of Francis' translations and the photos with the translated captions, they are excellent. The Larcade set is a standard reference I highly recommend, and Francis' translation makes them even more valuable. Thank you Francis. Jim Turinetti

Mitres of the Schloss Guard - Pre- 1894

Hi Glenn, Thank you very much for your reply. Do you have the reference that this picture came from? I have seen the illustrations in this book and they do a very nice job of illustrating the two mitres. I would like to get access to the book and the text that describes the two mitres. Can...

Please help to identify these Pickelhaube!!!!

Nice Reserve Officer's helmet to a Fus A R. Note that the motto banner is absent. This is an indication that the helmet belonged to a Reserve Officer. There should be a silver Prussian Reserve or Landwehr Cross on the eagle's chest.
