    Filz

There are some articles from the Gesellschaft für Heereskunde on this, I had summarized a few informations before the big crash but the thread is lost now. From what I see at a glimps: Beginning in Feb. 1906 trials of lined helmets were done, which are today often mixed up with Ostasien helmets...

    Pionier Regiment 24

I think this is actually the 2.Westfälische Pionier-Bataillon 24 which was enlarged from 4 to 6 companies in August 1914 and since then referred to as Pionier-Regiment 24.

441 Euro for an Überzug - what's the point?

Hi all, a nice Überzug with stamps, but that much? Is that the price nowadays? 230663894369

REAL OR FAKE??? Grenadier Regiment von Derfflinger

In my opinion the wappen is not original to the helmet and the large black patches are probably hiding double holes. The helmet body itself looks original, but I do not think that the hardware is OK (just look at the nut of the spike base).

The Big Bang Theory #7: 42cm M-Gerät Big Bertha Casing

Fantastic article and what a find - wow! I remember reading that the assembly of the gun took only 4 hours, but I forget how many crunched fingers this amounted to.

    Unread topics - display status

Just a short question about the new forum software. In the old forum unread topics automatically changed to gray after some days, even if I did not read them. This way I could see at a glimpse if there were any really new topic in a subforum. In the new forum, unread topics seem to stay red...

Prussian Pioneer EM Ersatz Felt Pickelhaube M1895?

Hi, I recommend to ask him to be sure about the material, I have seen M15 fittings that were polished down to the bare iron and looked all shiny. The part of the rear spine that folds around the neck piece seems to be missing. Also I think it is strange that the chin strap posts are brass and...

    Captured Helmets... ?

Is the Tschako from Schwarzburg-Sondershausen? And is the crown broken off or missing, indicating post-war usage (maybe from the time between 1919 and 1920)?

    The Leather Chin Strap

I have one which has a bit thinner cloth, also darker although not as green as the picture suggests. I got it separate, hopefully it's good but who can tell - a cloth strap can been replaced easier than leather.

    Thoughts?

It did not sell for 700 Euro so he relisted it for 1150? Actually I thought it was OK when I saw it the first time and expected it to sell. Better pictures of the inside would be nice though..

Austrian Feldgendarm, Eastern Front, March 1915

Nice picture! This lad has a Mosin-Nagant, anybody know what the armband means?

    "Hello Ducky"

Fabulous picture! I know about mens earrings being not uncommon in southern Germany in rural areas around the middle of the 19th century. This was more due to superstition, not fashion. I never saw this in the WWI time frame but on the other hand this chap is a bit aged himself. Some journeymen...

    KP 505

OK I should have googled before posting, it is "Kraftwagen-Park". Evidently the alternative term "Kraftfahr-Abt." existed for the same unit, or is there any meaning to the difference?
