    DR. 24

I agree with Lars. Get photos of the lithopanes. I take it for granted that you've looked at the sites dealing with spotting originals vs. reproductions of these. Ron

Is there something I'm missing here?

Yeah, I don't know. In just ONE auction, the cost of a Stuart tank went from $15,000 to over $100,000 because of two morons getting into a bidding war. The price never came down, now that I have the $15K to buy one. crap... So viel Mist.

    Pimple, zits, acne, Hoods?

Ebay... Whoever it was that programmed whichever translator program to see Pickelhaube as 'Pimple Hood' has a LOT of explaining to do. (mine translates it as 'spiked helmet' and only Pickel (pimple) and Haube (hood) as single words. Oh well.

    PzP

Nah, the U.S. Army can be a logistical / marking mess during transitions and change overs, not to mention figuring out how to standardize individual equipment wear in the unit. I can understand if a Dragoon unit is changed to JzP, but hasn't actually started, or understood, the mission yet, they...

    Brass 'Doughboy' helmet

David and Peter, It looks like a standard type helmet only of brass. No markings, no numbers, no trim (the first ones didn't have trim either, but I don't really think that applies here). It could've been for factory work, but I really can't say. It displays nice and is interesting to look at...

    Brass Veteran's Parade 'Doughboy' Helmet

Not what I usually collect, but too interesting to let go for under $10. Solid brass, veteran's 'parade helmet' from the 1920's (??). The thing that interested me most was the other helmets I've seen like this have the chin straps riveted to the sides of the helmet above the flare. This is the...

    Brass 'Doughboy' helmet

It's solid brass. I'm going to post it in 'latest find' to see if anybody has more insight. It's slightly different than other veteran 'parade' helmets I've seen. Ron

    BRITISH DRAGOON HELMET COLLECTION

I've been reading your posts in reverse order, so for me your first one is the last. I think that today, as a modern uniform item, these helmets are the most attractive. Ron

    BRITIS DRAGOON HELMET COLLECTION #2

Thanks so much for posting! If I were in the British military, I'd apply to be a Dragoon just for the helmet / uniform. Of course, I'd go broke purchasing them, but private purchase is always worth it! ;) Ron

    BRITISH DRAGOON HELMET COLLECTION #4

Excellent helmets! The relief on the metalwork is beautiful. I also never knew about the Staffordshire Knot and had to read up a little on its history. Thanks for posting! Ron

    Brass 'Doughboy' helmet

That's what I thought. Postage cost more than the helmet! Well, it's an interesting piece. Maybe I can figure something out once it arrives.

    Brass 'Doughboy' helmet

This one interested me. As you can see, it's a brass 'doughboy' helmet. It hasn't arrived yet, but they said it's full size. Would this be for a veteran's organization, like the aluminum versions? I've never seen a brass one before. $10 so, what th' heck. Any insights?

    Is it worth it?

A lot of careful clean-up to be sure, but 'worth the price'? Can't say without knowing what they're asking.
