This example is obviously very salty and tired but I still think it has an interesting look to it.

This is the first one that I’ve added to my collection a couple of years ago. I find them interesting as they are essentially the first official form of camo used by the German army during WW1.

Totally agree with you. No way I would ever touch it. Part why I love Imperial Militaria (and WW1) is because of the patina. All of my items stay exactly as I found them and live in a dehumidified collection room.

Thanks you. It’s tantalising to look at the smalls bits of what looks to be an underlying camo as it must have been very wild before being painted over. Reminds me a bit of the swirling craziness of Edvard Munche’s painting “The Scream” albeit with different colours. Andy

I think you may be thinking of the guy working out of Latvia. His are quite good but not good enough. Thougg in 50-60 years his helmets with have a lot of patina. There was a very good WW2 helmet painted known as Rex and he would sign his helmets so as to make them recognisable. What saddens me...

That was my first haube that I picked up in 2016. I was actually lucky with that one as my knowledge in Haubes wasn’t much lower than it is 10 years on 😂😂
