    Had this one for a couple of years now. It looks to have had a little bit of polishing over the years, a repair to the strap, and the condition and wear of liner is not quite in keeping with the exterior but I feel overall it displays nicely and I’m quite pleased with it.

    Hi John, Yes, it is the original felt liner. The liner itself is so supple it’s amazing after all of these years.

    One of my favourite Pickelhaubes. After starting out life as a regular black painted pre-war metal Pickelhaube this one was repainted perhaps mid to late 1915 in field grey. I believe these were dipped in paint as opposed to those we see with brush applied paint. Still retains its nice pliable...

    No tunics unfortunately, however I recently acquired this Gallipoli battlefield pickup Ottoman Army belt buckle pictured below with another that my Great Grandfather souvenired during his time serving in the 1st Australian Light Horse during World War 1. Digger

    Thanks Gabe. No digging for me. “Digger” is an Australian slang term for Australian and New Zealand soldiers who were heavily involved in digging tunnels and trenches on the Western Front during WW1.

    Thank you John. Unfortunately we don’t have a lot of good stuff down here in Australia, so most of my collection has been sourced OS which makes it quite costly due to shipping and sometimes import duties. I will progressively post some items up for the group to see.
