    I recently acquired this 1916 Schultz & Holdefleiss Kurassier Pickelhaube. It was painted silver, and the spike, base, and wappen are painted a dark subdued gold color. I am in the process of removing the silver paint from the helmet, and will have to remove the gold paint from the spike...

    Update: I found some older reproduction Tombak chinscales from the gentlemen at Ageofkings militaria. They routinely travel to Europe in search of unique Pickelhauben and parts. Here's my finished 8 JzP helm.

    Bryan, it is interesting that you have removed black paint from similar helmets as well. I've also removed it from ww1 and ww2 German stahlhelms, but I've also removed other weird colors such as bright green, red, and even chrome. Thank you for the kind words regarding the restoration work...

    My third and final metalhelm is this Kurassier marked 8K on the rim. Someone had painted this one black, it had tan speckles on it, a lot of dents, and the spike has had been damaged and repaired.
