    Verdun Fort Douaumont

Great photos. This is one my list for my next trip to the battlefields.

    Vimy ridge memorial,

Both my sons (Canadian Army Reservists) and my two grandsons visited along with my wife and I last summer. It was my second trip. This monument should be a place of pilgrimage for all Canadians along with Beaumont Hamel for the Newfoundlanders. (Newfoundland wasn't part of Canada until after...

    Feldartillerie Regt #46

Terrific helmet. Nice to see that "NCO" Perlring.

    Baden M1915 Pickelhaube

Very nice wartime example. Shell, lacquer and liner are all in good shape. Baden Kokarden are out there. It will just take some patience until one shows up.

    Mecklenburg

    They make a stunning pair!

    East Asian Wappen

Clovis: Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. I've never seen one of these in the flesh and over the years I've seen a lot of Pickelhaubes, so I knew it had to be rare. I'm eager to receive any information you have on this piece. I was always fascinated by the German campaign...

    M1895 Prussian Fabric covered artillery

Nice pick up. It's in very good condition. Is the liner leather or an ersatz material?

Suggestion For Temporary Visor Retaining Pins For Sewing

Well, that's an interesting idea. I've managed to stick myself several times using the pins method. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

    Cuban Lobstertail

John: Very interesting item for sure. My money is they were made in Germany using existing dies at least for the shells, I'd bet my next pay cheque (easy for me to say now that I'm retired) that there are photos in newspaper archives. If these were for ceremonial and state occasions there...

    East Asian Wappen

Thanks for weighing in James. That's good to hear. I've never seen one in the flesh before. I'll have to spend some time researching the East Asian contingents. It's a topic I haven't bothered with much as in my experience I figured the odds of encountering something like this were pretty long.

    East Asian Wappen

Thanks for your interest and moral support gentlemen. Hopefully one of our East Asian experts will chime in on this.

How do I make sure a pickelhaube helmet is real

Steve: I can see why you'd think that but IR 178 was a Saxon unit. 176 was West Prussian.

    Complete wound badge set!

Dane: It's nice to see you have the complete set and all in good condition too. As mentioned completing the set for the Navy would be considerable harder but doable. I've only found one so far and it's the black version and the easiest to find. I can't say that it's a priority for me.

    East Asian Wappen

It's coming from an estate auction and judging by some of the objects being auctioned it would seem the family had German roots plus there was a selection of objects with an East Asian connection so I suspect a family member at some point was posted there. It was the only military related...

    East Asian Wappen

Here's a Wappen I picked up recently. I've never had the opportunity to pick one of these up and I frankly know very little about them. I believe it's real, but I'm curious about the method of attachment to what I think would have been the Borfeldt Tropical helmet? Do these long prongs look...

US TARIFFS ARE BRUTAL (Personal Anecdote)

Interesting conversation. It seems that the less attention you attract the lower the probability of encountering problems.

Helmet front plate for Pioneer Batl 10

    That's outrageous!

    A Nice Project Bavarian NCO?

James: That was a good buy! Your collection was in need of more Bavarian examples. ;)

    Garde Jager Batl / 2 Kp 1907

Great acquisition Steve, That 1907 prize is beautiful and the mounting to the tunic is very well done.

    Chinstrap inspection

I'd feel comfortable putting that on one of my helmets.
