    MG08/15

Returning to the postcard theme that sits within this MG08/15 thread. Super view of the steel tubular bipod as used with the T Gewehr too. Incidentally I am looking for one of those bipods, and an original sling. The sling has been fitted strangely in reverse!

    Current M1889 Collection

Can you educate, me at least, a little more about these. Every State had their own? Differences in the swords for which ranks? Just a really interesting topic! Mark

Collections - but not head gear!

Sir about 15 years. My original weakness was all things British MG but as some may have experienced a divorce tends to target collections :>) So I switched to German WWI ground MGs.

Considering the need for firewood in the trenches, the larger transit boxes are difficult to find each therefore 1000 rounds, 250 rd ammo boxes.

    MG08/15

I know of only 8 surviving examples of the wooden 08/15 in national museums (these are 3) and as one can see spare parts were used by the armourers or unit carpenter. One German war diary spoke of how the standard frontline infantry hated having a MG in their particular positions as it of course...

    MG08/15

Wooden examples were used by all sides in WWI. The obvious use was for training and these 3 x 08/15s are able to 'cycle' and practice stoppage drills. However just like in wars since dummy weapons played a part too. The Imperial War Museum UK has an amazing wooden MG08 and I know for a fact...
