Apologies in advance to all who may be offended but what's with all the drama and subterfuge? May all those collectors who have passed on rest in peace but at the end of the day death will come for us all. I will be the first to say screw what my family may ask when I am no longer around. I...

Can someone help me identify/authenticate my helm?

Cbebon, The better question would be "Is there anything right with it?" Just as Louis very aptly pointed out, it's 100% fake. Just to be clear, the wappen is a very crude fake. It is poorly manufactured. All the metal pieces suffer from the same issue. If you google "Baden pickelhaube" you...

Need assistance with Rangliste Lookup on an Officer, Heinrich Dautzenberger?

Gents, Does anyone have any info on Heinrich Dautzenberger? He entered service with the Saxon Uhlans in 1904 as an officer candidate (Fähnrich) and made Lieutenant in 1905. By war’s end in 1918 he might have been a Rittmeister (Captain). I was only able to find a 1911 Rangliste entry of...

    Battle of Mons Lobsterback helmet

While it's a very nice story, I believe it's just that. There is no doubt that JzP Lt. Mayer was the 1st German casualty he would not have been wearing an EM Kurrasier Helmet. So we can rule that out right off the bat. I believe that Private Sambrooks account is true but who knows how this...

    19 UR Leutnant

I was under the impression that there was a regulation (unsure if was written or unwritten) for Uhlans, that the helmet was to be worn at an angle with the left visor side trim at 1 finger width above the left eyebrow. This regulation did not apply when chinscales were in use.

    Garde Du Corps NCO tunic

Unless that thread is holding the sleeve to the rest of the waffenrock you should remove it. It's going to tear the wool. Perhaps it was placed there to display the tunic.
