Sold Pioneer garde/garde grenadier nco haube and saxon pioneer or IR 100 haube.

Yes I did buy the helmet! I think it is a beauty, and as said, visiting the ‘cimetiere franco allemand ‘ de maissin in the Belgian Ardennes very often ( stop on my way with my racing bike nearby our holiday home), eating my bananas and visiting the graves in that beautiful quiet place shared...

Sold Pioneer garde/garde grenadier nco haube and saxon pioneer or IR 100 haube.

Thank you Clovis and Bruno, for these very interesting details, as a headgear collector for over 30 years I think I know some things about WW1 headgear, and got a feeling for real or fake, ( like all of us learned the hard way), (that’s why I dared buying the helmet although the stamp did not...

bruno, that answer is very helpful, and a bit of relief as it supports the helmet as original in current condition.

Hessian IR 115, what a beauty, and already long time looking for one of that regiment as they fought a terrific battle near our holiday home and I do visit their graveyard of august 1914 battle of the frontiers very often, Hard to read that stamp (does not seem to be 115) , and mainz is not in...

Regt. der Gardes du Corps (Potsdam) or Kürassier-Regt. von Driesen ?

By the way this is my metal helmet cavalry shelf with two tellermutzes and two schirmmutzen of the GDC, and the garde kurrassier regiment

Regt. der Gardes du Corps (Potsdam) or Kürassier-Regt. von Driesen ?

That is interesting, enlisted men generally wore tellermutze (dunkelblau period), or kratchen ( later, feldgrau period) but they could also wear schirmmutzen without officer kokarde, so maybe it is fritz schluter and someone changed the kokardes later on? ( they seem period to the mutze),

Regt. der Gardes du Corps (Potsdam) or Kürassier-Regt. von Driesen ?

I have the same question about this mutze, ponceau red with white piping, thus regular kurassier or Gdc ?

    Rare Württemberg Alpine Shako M15

I posted an illustration of the shako in which another headgear item of the mountain troops is displayed, a ski cap very similar in design to the KUK kappe, must be extremely rare as only produced short time for limited number of units and probably used post war, I once saw one for sale on...

References images for Haubes from Mulhouse/Mülhausen regiments

I'm not sure of this, but when I bought this JzP officer helmet from a very trusted dealer some years ago he said this one was special because the chinscales where blackened thus belonging to the sole regiment with that feature, at that moment, I was just very happy to score a JzP officer and...
