I believe it is an American Legion honor guard helmet. They used the helmets post war.i have seen them with and without American Legion insignia.

I signed for the package and only later took a hard look at it and realized the beating it took. So I decided to take pictures of it as I unwrapped it worring about having to file a insurance claim with the post office. But when, I saw the inner box, I relaxed somewhat but still was not happy...
This Prussian Garde Grenadier Officers Parade Pickelhaube from1870s made it to my home intact. I owe AOK’s Randy and Ramey a huge thank you for double packing this old soldier in a double box. Every side was crunched or punctured, the photo samples of the box speak for themselves.
However...
It has been awhile since I purchased by auction from Europe and did not have to pay import duties. Because the seller included the Forms mentioned. However, I do not know if that is still an option today.
