The inside of the skin was smeared with Vaseline.The outside was lubricated with black Bundeswehr shoe polish.Now the skin is soft. In two hours it will dry and be ready for installation.

I used a technique of filling in missing material using glue and ground leather.Nobody in their right mind fixes things like this.You have to be a bit crazy and have a lot of faith in success.There are still a few hours of work left.

Only the low price and love for Pickelhaube made me become a new owner. It's good that the previous owner didn't repair everything with super glue.It'll be some fun.
