    Reliable Online Auction Houses

There are a number of auction houses in the UK, which sell Imperial German items. Bidding can be done remotely online, or by placing an auto bid in advance. ‘The saleroom.com’ shows what most houses are selling, although it’s generally a bit cheaper to deal with the individual auction houses...

    Who is this man?

I agree, albeit a bit thinner in the face than I would expect. Looks like Jackie Kennedy alongside, so clearly a VIP.

    Fife Light Horse Volunteers

Hi Thomas, Yes, definitely an officer’s. Superb.Rowe says the officer liners were either beige quilted cloth or soft leather. This is the first quilted one I’ve seen. I’ve seen a number of FLH helmets for sale, described as officer’s, but all with the OR type liner. Patrick

    Fife Light Horse Volunteers

Hi Jamie, Very nice! I have a FLH trooper’s helmet. Is yours an officer example? The saltire and the lettering look like gilt, rather than brass. The fact that, in my experience, the officer liners are the same as the trooper liners makes gilt vs brass the only differentiator as far as I...

    King's Dragoon Guard Helmet 1854

Dan, A very nice helmet. I agree with David’s analysis. However, the star can be cleaned without damage by using Hagerty’s Silver and Multi-metal foam, which is non-abrasive. This will also clean and refresh gilt. I have used it very successfully on helmets such as this, gilt helmet plates...
