    Haha, I guess that would be an issue for a collection as large as yours! Maybe you can wear the helmet as a fashion statement. That should solve the problem of thinning hair!

    Awesome! I’m glad you were able to remove the misleading paint job and decal. New collectors always mistake these for genuine WWII German stahlhelms, so if this one ever goes back into circulation, there’ll be little chance that it’ll be mistakenly identified!

    Welcome to the forum! Germany switched to using dull steel fittings instead of shiny brass due to camouflage reasons around 1915. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an older 1895 helmet converted to the 1915 regulations, but as Hayden said, it could've been an old shell pulled from storage.
