Thanks Peter. Nice bit of research. I‘m in UK and have never heard of this auction house. I agree that the chin chain fittings do look like the Belgian lion.

Hi Patrik,
Thanks, but I collect British dress helmets, including dragoon helmets, and it certainly isn’t British. The crown looks familiar, but I can’t place it.

I believe one of these (86976) is to one of the two Saxon pioneer units, 12 or 22, because it has gilt stars. The other (86065) has silver stars which is correct for LGR 100.
I am selling this helmet, which I posted on the forum some years ago https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/threads/bavarian-chevaulegers-officer-helmet.11078/#post-77743
It is on eBay UK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266246681463

Hi, I don’t know what it’s worth, certainly more than I paid for it. I’ve put it on eBay to get as big an audience of prospective buyers as possible. Starting price of £950.

I am selling the PB10 helmet I posted a few months ago. https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/threads/pioneer-battalion-10-em-1895-pickelhaube.17075/. I have listed it on eBay UK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266246674712.
Since the first posting here I have replaced the repainted kokarden with original...
A very nice piece. I always find the difference in design between the steel helmets of different nations to be very puzzling. I thought ‘form follows function’?!
One for Peter Suciu?

Hi David,
This is a spectacular and very rare piece. I take it that this is the plate Carman refers to as being worn on the leather helmet which was introduced around 1860 and worn until disbandment in 1871?
I also see that Carman has a photo of your Leicestershire helmet, also dating it...
David,
These are superb. The quality of the items in your collection is tremendous. These type of helmets in anything approaching mint condition are very hard to find.

Hi David,
Hi David,
That is some collection! I look forward to seeing more of what you have. I had never seen a Lancashire Mounted Rifle Volunteers before - not surprisingly! I have both books and some years ago corresponded with David Rowe for a while, who was very helpful. Sadly, he died a...
David,
I’m glad my posting inspired you to post pictures of your helmets. It’s great to find another collector. These pieces are in superb condition and I’m looking forward to seeing more. I love the Lancashire, in part because I was born there. 27 helmets is some collection - all cavalry?Where...
