    Saxon EM brass buckle

I will certainly share more buckles with you guys time allowing. Yes: markings are not common. That said, for some reason Saxon buckles typically have more examples with markings than others....but this is my only unit marked example. Cheers! Rob

    Display case

I also collect WW2 helmets. I have a few of these in display boxes used for NFL/CFL football helmets. They look great with a mirror on the back. Unfortunately (to my surprise), Pickelhaubes do not fit given their height unless you let them sit on their brims....not a good idea. They work with...

    Saxon EM brass buckle

Thanks guys! I will have to start posting more of my WW1 buckles, as well as some of the 1845 models as these were also used during the 1914-18 conflict. It's a neat area of collecting as there are so many variants out there. Cheers!! Rob

    Ersatz felt haube

Hello Clovis, Thanks for your input. I see what you mean about the rear spine. Interesting that this mistake was made. Regarding the metal trims, they are grey painted iron. Thanks for the tip on molding the adler's head to the crown.....and thanks for the extra information on helmet markings...

    Saxon EM brass buckle

Hey folks! So....those of you who know me are well aware that I'm more a 'buckle guy'. I have too many to count and I collect German buckles from 1845-present day. The bulk of my collection is TR but I have a considerable amount of WW1 buckles as well. Altough I have many Saxon buckles - I...

    Ersatz felt haube

Thank you! Glad you like it - 'cause I certainly do. :) Too bad there are no markings inside the helmet. I assume most of these felt examples that do have markings would have them inside the leather liner? In any case....happy to add another real piece of WW1 history home. Cheers! Rob

I posted a few pics of this last week asking about authenticity....and I very much appreciate all your help. Well......I got it. Retired co-worker decided to sell it to me. It was brought back after the war by her grand-father. She's in her late 60's and remembers it since she can remember. It...

    Ersatz haube question

Hey gang. I refer to you specialists as these wonderful helmets are not my area of expertise. The felt 'ersatz' haube: when were these introduced? I heard they were created as a result of a leather shortage at the beginning of the war. Is that it? Were they introduced in 1914 until the leather...
