A while back, I started a Pickelhaube Discussion thread entitled G stands for? Part of the discussion centered on chemically darkened brass, how it was achieved, and why it was employed. To refresh, a picture should suffice:
I thought it might be fun to survey other manifestations of blackened or subdued brass. As an American, I find the following examples to be quite relevant:
