Help identifying uniform

Marvellous! Congratulations on having a photo of your ancestor in a prestigious Regiment. This photo is full of details of Albert, such as the lace on his collar and cuffs which are specific to 3.KR. This is a wonderful photo of a Kürassier in Waffenrock, and I’m sure more of the members here will add information for you.

As said by the others, this is a great photo of a family member in a very prestigious regiment. And one of the most beautiful uniforms!

I cleaned the photo up a little bit in photoshop but the original was in very good condition. The crazy part is that image is not a scan. My father took a photo of the original picture from a photo album. If your curious, I can post the original.

A beautiful photo of your grandfather. He was well decorated. Shooting prize and fencing certificate. (Lanzenfechten Abzeichen). It is based on the Prussian cuirassier's Pallasch, inspired by the 1816 French cuirassier's ‘Latte’.

Thank you everyone for the great information. Receiving the photo has motivated me to trace my German family heritage further.
