I looked at this sellers 'other items' and it seems that everything is worth much more in Australia.

Well he certainly has set the price. I am thinking about selling my entire collection at this price.

What I get tired of is re-valuing everything every year or two for insurance. As you know, I've told my wife I'll sell all of this when I get into my 70's except for a couple of favorites and the ones the kids want. By then, we ought to be able to take two or three world cruises on the money. In the mean time, it really puts a crimp on my ability to collect, since I'm not a Rockefeller. I'm glad I started way back when.

Do you U.S. fellows pay customs on Australian goods ?

Short answer is yes. But it entirely depends upon the valuation placed on it by the customs authorities. This can be a really wild ride. Often the sender sets the value of the package. It is not as bad as VAT can be.

Hmmm, I'm not sure what to make of this seller's prices. Pickelhaubes are rare to find in antique stores here in Australia, so they do tend to be pricey when you encounter them. This seller runs a bricks and mortar antique store as well as selling online, so I guess he inflates his prices accordingly.

But with the internet and international postage meaning that the world is your marketplace, why would you ever pay this guy's prices online?

I am pretty sure that there is some poor soul out there who is willing to pay $1500 for a plain M15 or $800 for a dusty old fox :D

Same seller has just listed a Bruswick officer's helmet for AU$6500 - I'm not certain about that totenkopf though???

What do the rest of us think?

That is a copy on ebay. Compare to Tony's and Adler's originals on this forum. Incredible.

I'll never own an original :(
