Took a chance on this one, hoping for some more advice on what exact model it is and any other details from more enlightened members here please! (These early types are outside my knowledge area).

Description:

‘Up for sale is my model (1857/60?) Kürassier / Cuirassier helmet - the outside shows some sign of wear (and cleaning?), there is one original cockade, the screws for the chinscales are later issue, the leather underneath the chinscales is broken at the buckle, and there is no liner. Nonetheless, this displays well and is an affordable version of this early German Cuirassiers' helmet.

Marked beneath lefthand chinscale screw, Helmet Plate and spike mounted with period-appropriate "looped" nuts, painted green under the forward brim, rear has remains of leather padding.’

Very nice. That is the 1853 pattern which placed the front visor on the inside. The 1842 Adler is one of the earliest patterns, being cast from brass into a flat mould, then cleaned up and shaped to the helmet. Later modified in 1860 for the addition of the FATHERLAND Bandeau.
Thank you, very interesting.

Congrats, you beat me to it, I was typing the message to seller when it was marked sold, you got a great deal on a very nice helmet.

This is probably a part of the markings. Think we see the 1st Eskadron and the Kammernummer/Quartermaster store number... 118
With a bit of luck the Regiments number is covered by the Kokarde.

Let me add that the front eagle is the M42 line eagle. In March 1860, it received the Vaterland-Bandeau by tin soldering, to match the Prussian eagle of active regiments. In November 1860, it was replaced by a new eagle with integrated headband. This eagle is called M42/60, and the next one M60. This helmet, still in its ogival configuration, may have fought at Sadowa in 1866, but not in France in 1870.

Thanks for all the feedback, a few more images.
