Rear visor

Are some enlisted helmets rear visor constructed of two layers of leather and then border stitched all around?

I have not seen any.
Unless they were made of canvas over cork.

Yes, I have seen splitted rear visors on older helmets, like M1857 or M1860/67, when they have been issued to new helmet models.

I have never seen that sort of arrangement. I would love to see a photo.

I have an M15 Prussian artillery helmet with that. Odd 'pebble' finish on the inside.

Oddly, it was my 2nd helmet for my collection, so I didn't know it was out of the ordinary.
