the second book a german price guide from 1978 about Pickelhaubes, really small reference book probably small dimension to stow away in your pockets to have it by hand when visiting a militaria fair
Prices in Deutsche Mark 1979

(I was born in 1971 and started collecting headgear when a teenager, bought my fist Pickelhaube in 1990)

How quickly price guides are of no use
Prices change so quickly , that by the time they are published the prices have changed
In 1992 I sold my non-Prussian helmets
I wanted to collect only Prussian
when I sold I thought the prices I got were very good
years later I had regrets
when I went to replace some non -Prussian helmets that I had sold
I had to pay much higher prices for the ones that I could find
some I was not able to replace
Even with my big 1992 mistake , it sure has been a lot of fun
Example Hessian L I R 115 officer ; original purchase price $ 450.00
sold 1992 for about $ 5,000
today mint example about $10,000

I think that I have a price guide that was published by Jim Turinetti
but now , I never look at it

Hahah - that's exactly what I do! This little book lives in the backpack I bring to shows. 😺 (y)

(The prices are obviously vastly out of date, but the comparative values are still fairly on point IMO)
