Is thas the old style officer's pearling etc, but what is this?

Appears to be a police helmet.

This reminds me, Brian, could you add a Civil Pickelhaube topic to the forum? Often we see police, fire, and other civil hauben come up to discussioin.

Great idea Geo. I will ask Margo to add this category. We see so many of these customs, fire and police hauben up for sale. Bambang I would say that this is a NCO police. I find that the fireman helmets usually employ the crossed axes motif on the wappen. My impression is that police favoured silver fittings, the cruciform spike base plus the additional trim on the rear visor. I have a similar police hemet from the Rhineland area. The only difference is the wappen which is a Prussian eagle similar to the customs with green painted shield and wavy line on the breast. If there are any experts out there, I am prepared to be corrected.
