Love the Helmet, Freikorps would be the best-case scenario to explain the addition of the Swastika.

Helmet was put together starting with a nice camo shell IMO.

Notice the much smaller sized liner which is being held in by the addition of the replacement split pins.

Replacement pins? The pins dont match the helmet colors.

Could they have been added during the period after the camo? Maybe but IMO not all three and if so, why the much smaller liner.

Just my observations and opinions after looking at it with the collector's eye:unsure:

I love the camo (y)(y)

I believe the only replacement pin may be the back pin the other two are perfect colour matches.

The liner is leather and probably shrank over time if badly stored, (hot attic etc) have seen this often in M16 leather liners..

No problem, I can only look at the provided pictures and offer my opinion and observations. I guess I should apologize for the critical critique of an item not my own but since you're also a collector who I'm sure has bought plenty from just photographs I'm sure you can totally understand.

When I see a new Item, I go through the whole checklist, re the " liner shrinking." my observations have been that with that amount of shrinking those pins would have so much pressure on them that they would give off a different appearance from the inside and or break.

I'm certainly not going to argue about it, but I feel I have to stick by my original assessment. Hope you're not mad at hearing it; I certainly don't intend to offend and have no problem at all if you think I haven't got a clue. ;) :giggle:

We all have different experiences over the years and some of them can help us form different opinions. I certainly respect yours especially since you have the advantage of having it in hand and I think we can both agree that can make a HUGE difference.

It's a nice helmet. All the best. John Josef

Awesome find! I’ve always thought camo helmets were the coolest types of helmets on the militaria market, and the possibility of this one seeing freikorps use just adds to that “cool factor”!
