Roy Akins

Just found out Roy Akins of Winnipeg, Canada just past away last month suddenly from heart issues.

I only met Roy once at SOS, but emailed him many times back and forth, mainly a steel helmet guy, but dabbled in pickelhaubes. He was part owner of German Helmet Walhalla forum.

Just thought I would pass on the news.

I found out about Roy's passing when I returned from moose hunting. It was quite a shocker. I never met Roy but he was very keen on German helmets of any description including Pickelhauben. He was also a great resource for Canadian/British militaria.

The GHW2 forum is going to miss him enormously

I never met Roy but of course had heard of him mostly through my friendship with Tony S. It is always sad to hear that another longtime collector has passed.
