Fantastic helmet Steve, and thanks for posting the image of the music meister of Grenadier Regiment 1.

First time I have seen a closeup of the music meister swallow nests.

Are the shoulder boards specifically for that rank as well?

Yes , the straps were special
There were 3 different models over the years
The plate for I R 19 shows the 3 different models
1898 the strap was the same color as the regular strap
1908 the strap takes a tressa border the center color is the same and the lyre is added
1912 Final model all straps were red IMO this made them hard to I D to some cases
Here is my collection of Music Meister straps
If you notice the I R 159 is feldgrau , which I have no information on .
