Jäger zu Pferde, 8. Rgt., other ranks

A fine J z Pf Helm!
-can you take of the eagle Wappen?
1-There can be a number in the front of the shell.
2-Is there a written number on the back of the eagle?
Thank you,
Francis

Thank you very much for showing.

I like the label of Borchert!

Isn’t it lot 1382 from Kube in May?

The only thing I’m asking myself, shouldn’t the screws on the rear be in silver?

Best wishes,

GardeUlan

You mean the officer JzP - and yes, it is lot 1382 and the rivets should be silver. Maybe some other collector has an explanation.

JzP Regiments 1-7 had the silver rivets. JzP 8 had the tombak rivets. JzP Regiments 1-6 were formed between 1901 and 1910. Regiments 7 through 13 were formed in 1913. Regiment 8 is the only JzP regiment with tombak rivets.

Fun fact: JzP regiments 7 and 8 were both stationed at Trier, and as you look at a google map of Trier, you can very plainly see what appear to be buildings that once would have housed hundreds of horses and their cavalry riders. I have not visited Trier but would like to. One of the buildings looked like a former HQ building and is now a bank. Even though there is nothing I could see from the google maps indicating that these buildings used to be the regimental HQs for two light cavalry regiments, I think it could be interesting to look and walk around and just take it all in.

Hope this helps.
Tim
