Ratisbons - Large Imperial Auction

Live auction July 5th and 6th.

Large collection of Imperial Headgear as well as awards, uniforms, edged weapons. I am assuming that this is a lifetime collection of a single collector that is being put on the market. But not being in the inner circle of the Imperial Collector world, this is just a guess on my part.

Definitely some wish list items for me but I'm not confident in my own skills to make a call on some of the Haubs, like the GDC's.

Plus hammer prices at Ratisbons are typically exorbitantly high and then you still have to add on the premium and credit card fees. Even the starting prices in some cases make me question my sanity. Euro 2k for a replica of the Prussian pour le mérite Cross of the Order????? That's almost the same price I paid for my original private purchased Wagner example.

Unfortunately nearly all of the helmets have been restored.

Best wishes,

I would agree. In addition, they have 10 nice Kriegsmarine officer's swords that I would love to bid on....but because they have Ivory handles they can't get sent out of the EU. Grrrrr.

Interesting. I actually didn't look at any of them in detail as I was scrolling through on my phone.

Will be interesting to see what they all go for. I haven't brought anything from them in a number of years. Was able to get fair prices back then. But now, in most cases ending prices is prohibitive.

Do they disclose that?

Edit: I see that they do.

All of the Swedish 3 haubes these, all of them have been restored and upgraded...(n)

I was interested in these 2 but what should I imagine? I know that the 2nd one has been painted on the inside, so to speak, to prevent rust. What do you think about it, original and condition and price?

That's a lof money for a cuirass that has been incorrectly modified. Apart from the obvious new grey interior paint the officer lion bosses are not correct for an EM cuirass. I suspect that the previous owner tried an ad hoc repair with parts they found. I would stay clear of this lot.
