Hello dear enthusiasts, lately the sales of the beautiful pickelhaubes offered from Age of Kings have been going very fast, apparently there are people who wait until the minute the new pieces are opened, unfortunately I rarely have the chance to see the prices, let alone buy something, so there are apparently still many enthusiasts for the good beautiful pieces,

Hello to all ;
If you read what A o K is saying ; They are selling the collection of a collector friend who passed away.
This is being done for his widow. the collector started to collect in the 1960's. This is a once in a lifetime
chance for the collectors of today to buy helmets from this old collection. IMO this is much better than
having to buy at auction. No 25 % commission. Also, you can count on an accurate description with several photos.
From what I have seen the description stays up for some time. it is the sales price that goes away right after the purchase.
I wish that the sale price would stay up, but that's not the way that the site is set up right now. A o K also not long ago
purchased an old collection of helmets from the family of a collector who passed away. This was on the Noth East coast
and mainly enlisted helmets. I was able to buy a couple of these helmets that did not sell right away .
Check the site as often as you can and if you see one that you like, hit the BUY button right away.

Hello, that is correct what you write, Steve, but I regularly look at A & K, you also learn from them, the photos are very good and also the description, but do not forget I live in Europe and then there are some additional costs, or you have to wait until they come to France and ship from there, all in all I regularly see that in America there are more beautiful ones than here, although it all happened here, the wars, and even then sometimes those prices are still difficult for many people here as a beginner to afford, but then you have a nice piece in the collection

I was keying in and by the time I did it, the items were sold. Thought sold to myself 😁 but it wasn't lol

If someone is beating the Queen of Pickelhaubes to the punch something doesn't seem right.

Perhaps they are already sold before they even hit the site.

Certainly not saying any insider trading is going on but you have to get up pretty early to beat the Queen. (y)

Hello enthusiasts, one must not forget that it goes all over the world, and then you also have people who know where they come from, if you have collected from the 60s, then it is almost 100% certain that these are pieces that have not yet been touched, also people who have enough money to buy these beautiful more expensive pieces, in short, not everyone is quick to spend 5000 dollars,

Not sure if anyone remembers the post made here a little while ago (not sure who made it), but it had outlined a way to check prices after the items are sold, and the method still works.
1. Right Click, and go to 'View Page Source'
2. Press Ctrl F, and find the Word 'Price'
3. There is the price of the sold Item.

Sadly this method will not work on a mobile device, but it still is useful.

I think what happened is that after two World Wars not too many Germans were interested
in Military items to collect. Back in the 1960's there were a lot of American soldiers stationed in Germany .
Some were collectors like Cliff Foster who's helmets and steins were shown in Col. Rankin's book on spiked helmets
Also Walter Hartmann who made many trips to Germany to buy helmets for his personal collection.
That just happens to be two collectors that I knew. I have old lists of helmets for sale, when you could buy an officers
spiked helmet for $50.00. Then there is the famous pile of spiked helmets sold in New York after WWI.
I think that is how a lot of helmets ended up in the United States.
You are correct about the prices of helmets today. If I had to start over today, I could not afford to build a new collection.
It is supply and demand. It seems there are more collectors and less helmets. Example, the enlisted man's J z P helmet listed at
A o K. Not a rare helmet, correct? However, it was Kammer to J z P R 2. When I first started to collect, a lot of collectors
said that the only J z P e m helmets they had seen were Kammer to J z P R 8. The A o K example sold right away.

yes Steve what you say is right there are more collectors but there are a lot of copies among them, and I find that so difficult, or a collection of 5 pickelhaubes, just be honest but well like with every hobby, if the money becomes more important than collecting we are far away, I have already bought some nice pieces from collectors that I sometimes see on ebay, wow, I have also been scammed unfortunately, that's why I save and when I see something I jump on it but preferably from the collectors here, now I am looking for more hats and men's pickelhaubs Württemberg Officers Tschapka complete I would like to have this for around 4000 to 5000 dollars

Age of Kings has a Wurttemberg Uhlan officers helmet for $4,750. It is NOT complete to parade. It still is missing the Fangschnur and the parade bush. It does have the hardest part to find, the correct rabatte .I think that it has been offered for a little while, so maybe they might be open
to an offer of a lesser amount? Be very careful on EBay buying of helmets. Sorry, I just reread your post. You are looking for an enlisted Wurttemberg Uhlan. Send Age of Kings an email , tell them that you are looking for. They be able to find it for you.

Well mostly from the US, but if you contact Remy Schaal at AOK he can take it to France and post it there, he is French, and regularly there too.
Hello, what Coert says is correct. I have already bought something, but you have to be a bit patient. It is not the case that he always travels to France, but I think patience is promised and the costs are also clearly a lot less.

Remy is from the Alsace region, originally, and born there. It sure saves a lot of cash if he takes it with him, and sends it from there. Customs charges and so on.
