My first pickelhaube. NCO?

Hello all,

I bought my first pickelhaube, I was told this is for NCO Officiers but some research says there should be stars holding the spike base?

Any help with info and prices is greatly appreciated!

Sorry to say, but a few things are wrong with this helmet.
The studs at the base of the point should definitely be gold.
The same applies to the rosettes holding the Schuppenketten...
Furthermore, I believe the Helmwappen is a composite.
The eagle has an open crown (= officer).
The star is a EM version (flat, two-dimensional)...

Thank you...
So are you basically saying this is a real helmet but the studs&rosettes were later attached and possibly the star as well?

I can only concur with what Leibhusar wrote, Composite. Neither an NCO nor an officer helmet. Really sorry not to bring better news. And the liner, which is genuine, is shot...
How is the eagle attached to the shell?
Best wishes;

So a private helm that someone made composite of? What would be the value of something like that?

Both NCO and officer helmets were private purchases. There were intermediary patterns between both models. I would say this one may have started as an officer helmet: green and red linings on visors, cockades, officer-type eagle...
You should show the reverse side of the eagle, and the way it is attached to the helmet.

The helmet has obviously been altered/played with, I would be checking for extra holes behind the eagle plate. Last, show a photo of the back of the eagle, how is it attached?
Welcome to the forum.

Value wise you must ask yourself ;
" You want to buy BMW but the engine seems to be one from Dacia, the seats from Peugeot and the wheels are from a local tractor "..are you still buying a BMW?...or something from any value?

Thanks everyone for their comments.
The guy who sold this has 80 pickelhaubes, this one was in my opinion the nicest he had for sale but with the risk of it being a composite I rather have one who is less nice but original. So I will be returning it today and buy a more original one. I will share it here once I have it :)

Again thanks everyone!

Chinstrap is fake...
Can you show a photo of the marking inside ...?.R.15....
No extra holes behind the helm plate?
Thanks, I thought as well that the chinstrap looked too good to be true... There are no extra holes behind the helm plate. Here is photo of the marking

Infantrerie Regiment Prinz Friedrich der Niederlande (2.Westfälisches ) Nr.15..

This helmet should have the standard Line Eagle, not a Garde..

So recently the eagle & the star on top have been added?
Very interesting that you can come up with the name behind it! I am from the Netherlands (Niederlande)

Yes, to make the helmet more valuable....
But I'm afraid that the Reichskokarde is also fake..
These types, which have some surface rust, are often seen on Ebay;
