Kaiserliche Marine Officer Visor Cap

Kaiserliche Marine Officer's summer-weight visor cap. The lightweight cap is unlined and has a simple, cloth sweatband. The visor is leather.

The interesting feature of this cap is the monogram - a crowned "A" suggesting it once belonged to Prinz Adalbert of Prussia, son of Kaiser Wilhelm II . The cap came out of Hamburg but I have no other information on it.

All comments and insights welcome.

Hans

Here are a couple of pictures I found online showing the Kaiser and his son Prinz Adalbert wearing what look to be the same model of cap.

This is the only item I've found - from another collection - showing a monogrammed tunic once belonging to Adalbert.

Is it your hat?
or do show photos of it?
I have 2 thoughts
I would think the cypher & crown would be in gold ?
From my memory going back in time; Did Der R. offer that hat some time back? Or one somewhat like it?
Hamburg might suggest the Weitze firm?
At one time Der R bought from Weitze, believe it or not for resale
IMO Jeff R. is the cloth hat man
I would like to know what Jeff thinks
IMO more similar to this.

Thank you all for your positive comments.

The cap is mine and I did purchase it from Weitze around one or two years ago. I don't know who Der R. is and I don't know of anyone else offering this cap for sale previously. It's possible. I would certainly welcome more insight into the cap's monogram.

A beautiful example Hans! Was Weitze selling it as belonging to Adalbert?

The monogram certainly looks legit to me. They were usually gilt (as in the example Steve shared) or less commonly in finely detailed black. Seems to have been a personal preference matter, but I've more often seen the black monograms in service caps like this one. It certainly looks like a royal/princely closed crown, practically identical to Steve's red embroidered example. To me, it feels like a pretty solid case for Prinz Adalbert. What a great piece of history!
