41st Infantry Division, A.E.F..
Thank you for the insight. I don't think 41st Infantry Division, A.E.F., either. The colors are wrong, but I also don't believe any A.E.F. units used Brodie helmets. The A.E.F. was issued British Mk I helmets, including those that were repaired/repainted, but I've never heard of a single Brodie helmet being used by the A.E.F. It would seem a stretch to believe the one out there also happened to have a division insignia painted on the side.
There are going to be fakes in 100 years that are attributed as real. Well, I probably won't be around to see it.I do also know that Ken Hegwood was very proud that several helmets he painted up in modern times are featured in the "Painted Steel" 2-volume set. I'm not saying the 41st Division example from the Mike Haley Collection is one of those. I know Mike, and he wouldn't lie about the provenance of this helmet of his featured in the book.
