Garde du Corps Helmet with Line Eagle?

Does anyone have any insight as to why this period photo depicts an officer with a line eagle on his helmet?

I guess it’s an actor wearing a fantasy helmet and uniform. Just to look somewhat military and cool

Best wishes,

Possibly items available at the photographer’s shop. I understand they kept uniforms and helmets in house and available for the person being photographed.

You are right, but in garrison cities photographers had to keep regulation accessories that were correct overall, not such an heresy as seen here. Not a real soldier here, and I would bet the photo is post-war.
